The search: ask in your own words, from any screen
The search covers everything on the site that you may open, and nothing you may not: the guides, the rules, the archive, divisions, ranks, the screens themselves, events, and once you are signed in, the members, your tickets and your own things. What it lists, you can open.
- 01Open it from anywhere.Press the slash key, or Command K on a Mac and Control K elsewhere, and the search palette opens over the screen you are on. The field at the top of the sidebar and the glass on the compact bar open the same thing. The Search screen has more room for the same results.
- 02Ask in your own words.How do I get promoted. Is random killing allowed. Who is in the Military Police. When is the next training. What is on this week. My tickets. Who is NullSector. A question gets an answer at the top when one sentence answers it, with a link to where it is written.
- 03Typos are forgiven, and the Empire's words are understood.A misspelt word is corrected against the words that exist, and you are told what was searched. CID, MP, CSF, HC and LOA mean what they mean here. Ban finds punishment, promotion finds rank, join finds apply.
- 04Use the keyboard.The arrow keys move through the results, Enter opens the one under the cursor, Escape clears the field and then closes the palette. Results come as you type; the last word is completed for you.
- 05Search a reference or a name whole.CYR-REG-002 opens that regulation, CYR-4821 that ticket, a Roblox username that member. Each has a reference for a reason.
What decides the order
Results are ranked by how well their words match yours, with a title match worth more than a mention, every word matched worth far more than one of them, and the words standing together worth more still. Guides answer how questions; rules answer whether something is allowed; what is coming up ranks above what has been. Within a group only the first eight are shown, and the group says where the rest is.
