Charter of the Special Forces
Selected operators for tasks the line formations are not shaped to carry
The Special Forces are a small formation of the Cyrannus Army made of selected operators, kept for the tasks the line is not shaped to carry: the operation that needs a few who know each other over many who do not, the objective that needs speed and quiet, the job nobody else has trained for. They answer through the Army's command and are used by it and by the throne.
What the Special Forces do
- 01Operations.A planned action with an objective, briefed to the team by its leader, run by the team leader on the ground, and closed with a report. That is the whole job; everything else here is in service of it.
- 02Selection and training.Their own, continuously. An operator who stops training stops being an operator.
- 03Support to the line.Attached to an Army operation when the Army's command asks: the part of it that needs them, under the Army officer commanding the whole.
Who may use them
The Army's command and the throne task the Special Forces; nobody else does. A request from another formation goes to the Army's command. On an operation the team leader commands the team, whatever ranks are attached to it, and answers for it to the Special Forces' command afterwards.
Selection, not promotion
Nobody is promoted into the Special Forces and nobody is sent. A soldier puts themselves forward, passes selection, and serves a Candidate period that ends in an Operator's place or a return to the line, which is no mark against them. An operator keeps their Army posting throughout and goes back to it when they leave, at the Army rank they held.
