Recruit to Supreme Commander: what each rank does, and how one moves up

The Army's ladder is the ten tier ladder read through its own column. A rank is a duty before it is a title: what follows is what each one is for.

The ranks

1. 01Recruit.New to the Army. Learns the formations, the standing orders and the chat discipline. Attends; does not lead. The first promotion comes after the first full week and two events marked present.
2. 02Private.A soldier of the line. Holds a place in a patrol or a garrison and does what the leader of it says.
3. 03Corporal.Leads a pair or a fireteam within a squad. The first rank that gives an order, and the first that answers for one.
4. 04Sergeant.Runs a squad: forms it up, takes the roll, moves it, keeps it in the standing orders. Runs drill under an officer. The rank a Recruit reports to.
5. 05Lieutenant.The first officer. Hosts trainings and patrols, marks who came, requests promotions for the ranks below them on the site, and is answerable for their conduct.
6. 06Captain.Commands a company of squads on an operation, and trains the Lieutenants. Hosts the larger events.
7. 07Colonel.Deputy to the command. Runs the week: who hosts what, who is quiet, what is short. Sits with the command when it decides.
8. 08General.The command of the Army. Sets roles below their own, decides requests, applications and the Army's operations, and speaks for the Army to the Sector Commander.
9. 09Sector Commander.Senior command over the Army and its branches in a sector. May order a member out of the Army. Holds the branch Commander's appointment in each branch as the same post.
10. 10Supreme Commander.The head of the Army and of every branch, appointed by the Eternal Emperor. Answers to the throne.

On the site, an officer of the division (rank 248 and above in its Roblox group) may request a role change for someone below them; the command (rank 251 and above) sets roles, decides requests, leave and applications, and opens the group's door; the senior command (rank 252 and above) may also order a member out of the group. Nobody acts on anyone at or above their own role, nor above them in the Empire. An officer is also given Command in the Cyrannus Empire group, which opens hosting and the Command Center.

Promotion

1. 01A promotion rests on what was done.Events marked present at, events hosted for officers, time in the role, commendations, and a clean record. All of it is on the member's profile; the Command Center shows it beside the name.
2. 02Time in a role is a floor, not a right.Recruit to Private after the first full week. Private to Corporal after two weeks. Corporal to Sergeant after three. Sergeant to Lieutenant after four, and only for someone who has run drill under an officer and been seen to. Above that, the command's judgment and the Army's need.
3. 03The command promotes; officers request.A Lieutenant or Captain who sees it earned requests it on the site with a reason. A General grants it or declines it with a note the officer reads. Nothing is promised in chat.
4. 04A demotion is a decision, said to the member.For conduct, or for a role not being done, with the reason on the record. Not for a quiet week; that is a word first.
5. 05A promotion is announced.At a ceremony where there is one; in #rank-logs always. The site and Discord follow the group the moment the role is set.
