Charter of the Cyrannus Army
The standing military of the Empire, and the parent of its three branches
The Cyrannus Army is the standing military of the Empire. It holds the line: the garrisons, the patrols, the trainings and the operations that keep the Empire's ground the Empire's. Everyone who serves under arms serves in it or in one of its three branches, the Crownguard, the Military Police and the Special Forces, each of which is a formation of the Army with its own ladder and its own command, answering through the Army's.
What the Army does
- 01Holds ground.Patrols in uniform under a leader, garrison duty at the Empire's posts, and the defence of both when they are tested.
- 02Trains.Drill, weapons and formations, for its own ranks and for anyone the branches send back to it. A member of the Army is expected at training as much as on patrol.
- 03Conducts operations.A planned action with an objective, ordered by its command or by the throne, for a named formation. The Special Forces take what the line is not shaped to carry.
- 04Supplies the branches. The Crownguard, the Military Police and the Special Forces select from the Army. A soldier keeps their Army posting when they join a branch.
Command
The Army is commanded by its Generals, under a Sector Commander, under the Supreme Commander, who is appointed by the Eternal Emperor and holds the same rank in every branch. The Supreme Commander answers to the throne and to no one else, save that a directive of the Political Council passed in session is carried to them and is to be obeyed within the regulations. Nobody outside the Army commands its formations in the field.
What it owes the rest of the Empire
- 01To the Crownguard, the throne's security wherever the Army is.An Army formation on the ground where the throne stands takes the Crownguard's direction for the throne's safety, and for nothing else.
- 02To the Military Police, its discipline. The Military Police police the Army. An Army member arrested by them submits to the arrest and argues afterwards, through the chain and the site.
- 03To Intelligence, what it sees.Reports of what a patrol found go up the chain and to the Directorate when asked. The Army does not run its own intelligence.
- 04To the Council, its obedience within the regulations. The Council directs; it does not command. A directive that would break the regulations is refused and reported.
Membership
Anyone in the Cyrannus Empire group may apply from the Army's page on the site. Entry is as a Recruit. The Army is the umbrella of its branches rather than a posting one takes leave from: a Recruit in the Army and in no branch tells their sergeant when they will be away, and asks for leave on the site once they hold a posting in a branch. The week asks 2 events of every member, marked present by the host.
